INTRODUCTION

MACROPHI Inc. is a bio-venture company founded July 2006 based on innovative concept and technical seed for in vivo activation of macrophages. Our most innovative discovery was that lipopolysaccharide obtained from Pantoea aggllomerans primes macrophages, in vivo, through simple oral or percutaneous adiministration, resulting activation of innate immunity of individual.

We are now ready to offer functional lipopolysaccharide materials to several industries including feedstuff maker, food maker, and cosmetic maker. Also, we are engaged in custom business of immunological analysis using our technical background. We are also making every effort to elucidate macrophage network in individual and activator of the macrophage network in nature.

 

Innate immunity

Immune system consists of innate immunity and acquired immunity. Acquired immunity is an immune system which has developed after the appearance of vertebrates and bear advanced phylaxis accompanied by production of antibodies. On the other hand, innate immunity is possessed by all multi-cellular organisms as the most primitive phylactic system and plays an important role on the maintenance of homeostasis in general not only in phylaxis.

Macrophages

Macrophages are essential cells to start innate immunity. They distribute every organ of the body and bear various functions such as phagocytozing pathogen or waste substances to clear the body, regulating the activity of other immune cells, and activating acquired immunity. Activation of macrophages is therefore considered to be effective in preventing troubles of health and recovery of such troubles.

LPS from Pantoea agglomerans

lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from Gram-negative bacteria are the most effective substances to activate macrophages. LPS developed by our company (IP-PA1) is derived from Pantoea agglomerans, symbiotic Gram-negative bacteria of wheat or fruits. P. agglomerans is present alive in wheat flour and helps proliferation of microorganisms necessary for bread fermentation by producing folic acid. In other word, it is a safe microorganism with long experience as foods. LPS from P. agglomerans has low molecular weight, activates macrophages in an organism orally or has improvement effect on various diseases such as hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and atopic diseases or on phylaxis.

Fermented-flour extract

We have invented and developed method for fermentation using flour as substrate to provide LPS from P. agglomerans safely, constantly, at a low cost. Natural material obtained by this technique is "fermented-flour extract". Fermented-flour extract materialized by our company contains LPS from P. agglomerans, consists only of plant constituent and is a safe functional material (Patented).

Reliable quality assurance

The effective ingredient of fermented-flour extract (IP-PA1) is measured closely by specific ELISA method established by our company (Patent Pending).

Areas of application

Characterization and function of fermented-flour extract can be applied to various fields such as functional cosmetics with enhanced moisturizing action, "doctor's cosmetics" to improve atopic dermatitis, functional foods or pet foods aiming at immuno-potentiation, and functional feedstuffs to enhance resistance to infection in place of antibiotics.
